Expanded Conference Link Support
Gordon Smith
It was recently brought to our attention that Chronicle was only processing Google Meet conference links from your Google Calendar events, and was ignoring conference links from other providers like Zoom and Microsoft Teams. We’re rolling out a fix to correct this, and wanted to give you a heads up on what’s changing and when.
What’s Changing
Conference links from Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other providers connected through Google Calendar will now be properly detected and used in your event notifications. Previously, only native Google Meet links were being picked up with any other conference link attached to an event being silently skipped. That will no longer be the case.
How Event Links Work
As a quick reminder, the link that appears in your event notifications is determined by the Event Link setting on your Notifier. This setting controls which link takes priority when an event has multiple links available (e.g., a event location link vs. a conference link). If you haven’t touched this setting, it will default to automatic detection, which will begin using the conference link if nothing has been entered in the Google Event Location field.
Rollout Timeline
We’re rolling this out gradually to avoid any surprises. Users with affected Notifiers will receive warning DMs over the coming weeks letting them know they may be impacted by this change and giving them the option to set their Event Link preference ahead of time if they want to avoid any changes.
February 23, 2026
All newly created Notifiers will incorporate conference links immediately.
March 23, 2026
Existing Notifiers will have this change take effect automatically.
What You Can Do
If you’d like to prepare ahead of time, here are two things you can do:
- Set your Event Link preference: Head to your Event Link setting and lock in a specific link type if you want full control over which link appears in your Discord server.
- Early Adopters: If you want conference links right now, add
features="conference"to your Notifier front matter to skip the rollout period entirely.
We hope you enjoy this update and as always, if you have any questions or feedback feel free to reach out to us on Discord, Mastodon, or Twitter.
