Update

It’s been quite a while since our last update, and we have a lot to catch you up on!

Documentation Updates

It has been a long time coming, but I have finally completed a major overhaul of our documentation to ensure that everything is up-to-date with the latest features. We had fallen behind after a few additions and changes, so I took some time to go through everything and make sure all the docs, images, and examples accurately reflect the current state of the system. There are still a few template items I want to expand on, but I’ll be pushing those out over the next week.

In addition I migrated our docs to a new platform that allows for better organization, searchability, and overall user experience. This now includes a search bar at the top of the page to help you quickly find what you’re looking for.

What’s New?

Over the past year, we’ve been hard at work improving Chronicle Bot based on your feedback. Most of our efforts have been focused on enhancing existing features, fixing bugs, and making the service even more reliable. Mostly behind-the-scenes updates that users typically don’t see. As such, we haven’t had many big announcements to share, but here’s a breakdown of everything we’ve shipped:

New Features

  • Image Summaries - Added a beta (still in development) feature for image-based event summaries
  • Event Attendees - Event messages can now include Google Calendar attendee information when using templates (a more detailed update post is coming soon)
  • Custom Footers - Added ability to customize footers on Summary messages
  • New Template Functions - Added several helpful template functions:
    • fixedWidthLink for formatting links like our default styles
    • duration for displaying event durations
    • Enhanced GroupByDay Summary Templates to allow field name templating

    • Fixed time zone matching issues
    • Event descriptions now convert from HTML to markdown automatically
    • Event titles are properly unescaped and processed
  • Summary Improvements

    • Increased description character limit
    • Added Monthly frequency Summary option
    • Better handling of “skip empty summaries” option

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed blank embeds appearing in notifications
  • Fixed duplicate event detection for voice channel events
  • Fixed thread ID assignment for forum messages
  • Fixed cancelled repeating events not syncing correctly on filtered notifiers
  • Fixed markdown links not being stripped from event descriptions when using templates
  • Fixed unicode non-breaking spaces in event descriptions
